Editorial and corrections policy
Parents, school staff and food businesses read these pages to know what applies, where and from when. A wrong date or a wrong list leads to a bad decision, so every rule points back to the official text it was read in, with the day it was read.
Who is responsible
Radif Partners, reachable at contact@fooddyelaws.com.
What we read
- enrolled bills, chaptered laws and codes on each state legislature's own site, or its official data downloads;
- FDA orders, proposals and notices in the Federal Register, and the current rules in the eCFR;
- FDA pages for announcements without legal force, quoted as announcements;
- court orders, from the court record or a copy of the filed document;
- USDA FoodData Central for what product labels list.
Sources we refuse
News stories, advocacy lists, company statements and forums never supply a fact here, even when they are right; they can only point us to the text to read. When the official source cannot be opened, the page says "not confirmed". The one exception is marked as such: the terms of the Texas court order, which we could not open, are given as reported by counsel for the parties.
Health questions
We do not assess the safety of any dye, additive or food. When the FDA, EFSA or California's OEHHA has published a position, we quote it with its date and name its author, and we do not add our own.
Review cycle
We re-read the sources whenever a legislature, the FDA or a court acts, and at least every quarter. Product data is rebuilt from each new FoodData Central release. A rule enacted for a later date is shown with that date, never as current before it.
Corrections
- We open the official text again.
- We correct the data file and its reading date, and add a test when the status logic is involved.
- The site rebuilds and every page shows the new date.
